Amazing strength!

Hey folks!

I know I haven't been blogging for awhile. All I can say is that my days are really very fulfilling now and before I know it, next week is my sixth week in SOT. One and a half months gone just like that and I am left with three months. Anyway, I'm really surprised at my strength. After starting SOT, I have never had enough sleep. If I had slept like that in the past, I would go to the office as a grouchy person.

Anyway, just last night, I only slept half an hour! I was busy mugging for my first assignment. It actually wasn't that difficult but the volume was enormous. I had to do a book review. There were 52 chapters in the book and I had to write a hundred word summary for each chapter. Being a meticulous person, I really spent a lot of extra time in recasting some of the summaries and before I knew it, it was four plus in the morning. So I took a quick nap and then went off to school. Its already 11pm now and I am still awake. I know I am tired so I am going to sleep after this. One thing I learnt: This is really leaning upon the strength of the Lord. Amazing strength!

Politics at work

"If you don't play politics, politics will play you".

The above is a comment from one of my colleagues. Want to know what I think?

To me, "if you play politics, politics will eventually play you".

Office politics is a vicious cycle. In the first place, things didn't work like this over here until this year. After seeing a record of thirteen good officers leave my department last year, the department swiftly hired ten officers to fill in the gap. Some of these officers are older than me while the rest are about my age. The ugly thing is, politics in the office is starting to show its ugly head. And the champion of these are actually these new officers. Perhaps they are still in their bubble. Things just don't work like that over here. No matter how much politics you play, it doesn't guarantee you a promotion. Face the truth. This is civil service. You might win the favour of the boss but the bosses themselves are playing their own politics too and you don't know when they are telling the truth. It doesn't take a genius to work here. We just need quality officers but the new ones are not showing it. All they know is to play politics. They can continue to do it because I believe one day politics will play them out.
